David Kelby Johnson Memorial Foundation supports Seven Creeks | Walk Series

Authored by Brian Tonetti

A grant to fund watershed walks along our creeks with youth and families throughout Salt Lake County. Programming will build stewardship to protect our natural spaces, public health, and environmental justice.

The David Kelby Johnson Memorial Foundation has contributed $7,500 to fund the Seven Creeks | Walk Series. Funds will be used to host 25 watershed walks with students and residents in Salt Lake County. By inviting youth and community members to become involved, seeds of attachment and a sense of ownership will be created. Participants will be exposed to professional mentors, community organizations, and creative exploration of their urban ecosystem. They will be introduced to the wonders of nature in their backyard, increasing the understanding of the relationship between urban development and the watershed. Programming will lay the foundation for participants to become community leaders to protect for natural spaces, public health, and environmental justice.
