  • This segment of the Jordan River does have water quality impairments, including Escherichia coli, macroinvertebrates, and dissolved oxygen. It is also impacted by trash and debris that flows into the river from our creeks and stormdrains. While the trash does not impact water quality, it can visually detract from the natural environment. Primary contact recreation (swimming) is discouraged, whereas secondary contact recreation (boating) is perfectly safe. If competitors get river water on their skin, it is encouraged to wash this area with soap and water within that day. Hand sanitizer, which is available at each registration table, should be used before eating or drinking.

If you would like to get involved in cleaning our creeks and the Jordan River, you can participate in the Seven Canyons Trust’s Seven Creeks | Walk Series. You can also join a Jordan River clean-up with the Jordan River Commission: jordanrivercommission.com/volunteer.

  • Your furry friends are welcome on leash at the Finish Line Celebration (1206 W 200 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84104). Plan to bring water, waste bags, and any other supplies to responsibly take care of your pet. Due to the nature of the event, pets are not allowed in the race.

  • The course is designed to be family-friendly and approachable for beginners. We’ve had families each compete as individuals going through the course together and we’ve had families compete as a team. Parents or guardians should make responsible decisions based on the child’s skill level, experience in the outdoors, and in each discipline.

  • To ensure fairness, we require competitors participate in legs individually. This means you may not paddle with a teammate in a two-person canoe or kayak. Some exceptions may be allowed for safety, such as a small child paddling with a parent or guardian. The Seven Canyons Trust reserves the right to make exceptions at the event manager’s discretion.

  • The first leg follows the path of City Creek. This 7.6-mile leg starts at the Fisher Mansion bikes up to the City Creek Canyon Trailhead, and ends back at Fisher Mansion. The second leg is running the Jordan River Trail. This 3.4-mile leg starts at Fisher Mansion and finishes at the 1700 South Boat Ramp. The final leg is paddling the Jordan River northward. This 3.3-mile leg starts at the 1700 South Boat Ramp and finishes back at the Fisher Mansion. Click here to review the course map.

  • Traffic will not be stopped for the race. However, the course is designed to minimize traffic and competitor interactions. During the bike and run legs, participants are expected to follow normal traffic laws, including but not limited to, stopping at red lights, yielding at stop signs, staying within bike paths, sidewalks, or trails, and obeying posted speed limits.

  • The course turns will be marked with temporary pavement markings and lawn signs. However, sometimes signage and markings are removed and/or vandalized. Therefore, competitors are encouraged to review the course map before the race. Registration tables will also have course maps for each leg.

  • Each competitor will receive a Seven Canyons Trust x Voile custom strap and a protein mix sample from Gnarly Nutrition. Prize packs from Backpacker’s Pantry, Bluff Street Bandit, Bingham Cyclery, Coalatree, Dr. Naylor, Epic Brewing, HOKA, Party Shirt International, Pit Viper, Salt Lake Running Company, and 5.11 Tactical are given to the top three individuals and top three teams.

  • Results and event photos will be posted to this event webpage and Facebook within a few weeks of the event.

  • The Range 2 River Relay is a potentially hazardous activity and is an unsupported race event. Competitors should be physically able and prepared for the demands of the race with water, food, nutrition, and necessary medications. Competitors will assume all risks associated with each discipline—biking, boating, and running. Equipment should be checked to ensure it is properly maintained and in good working order.

Course sweeps will follow the last competitor in each leg or will make a few sweeps up and down the course depending on the speed of the participants. Sweeps will have a first aid kit to address minor injuries (cuts, scraps, bruises, etc.). Competitors will administer their own care. If a serious injury occurs, course sweeps are advised to stay with the competitor and immediately call 911. The nearest hospital is the LDS Hospital, 8th Ave & C Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84103.
