The Salt Lake City Parks, Trails, and Open Space Bond will be on the ballot for Salt Lake City residents this November for the midterm elections. The $85-million bond would fund eight significant public lands projects, including the Folsom Trail and Allen Park.

The Salt Lake City Parks, Trails, and Open Space General Obligation (GO) Bond will be on the ballot this upcoming election term for Salt Lake City residents. The GO Bond is a $85-million funding source to bolster Salt Lake City’s natural spaces and public lands. It will implement priorities identified in the Public Lands Master Plan, Reimagine Nature, including two of our projects: the Folsom Trail and Allen Park.

Folsom Trail

Approximately $5 million will go towards the Folsom Trail, a proposed east-west connection between west-side neighborhoods and Downtown Salt Lake City. Funds will complete the final connection to the Jordan River Trail from 1000 West and add improvements designed through the City Creek at Folsom Trail Daylighting Design Plan.  Learn about the latest at the project website: https://folsomtrail.org.

Allen Park

The newly-acquired Allen Park will receive $4.5 million to preserve the culturally-significant works of art, historic structures, and restore Emigration Creek—which runs through the property. The creek is currently disrupted by a culvert that inhibits fish and other marine life from migrating down the waterway. Improvements to the beloved Emigration Creek will enrich the stream’s health, improve biodiversity, and boost water quality.

Additional projects in the GO Bond include:

  • Glendale Regional Park ($27 million)

  • Jordan River corridor ($9 million)

  • One neighborhood park, trail, or open space per Council district ($10.5 million)

  • Liberty Park playground ($2 million)

  • Fleet Block Park ($6 million)

  • Fairmont Park ($5 million)

The GO Bond will be on November’s midterm elections in Salt Lake City. Click here to register to vote. Voting is a great way to flex your civic duty muscles and support what you want to see in your community!
