We heard you in our first engagement opportunity on the City Creek at Folsom Trail Daylighting Design Plan, the survey. A total of 265 people shared how they use the Folsom Trail, what improvements they would like to see, and their concerns—207 in English and 58 in Spanish. Approximately 70% of survey respondents were from zip codes (84104, 84116, 84103, and 84101) touching the trail.

Survey participants mostly had never used the trail (46%). Most users lived by the trail and/or used it for walking, biking, or rolling (both 48%). Seating areas, lighting, and trash and recycling cans were prioritized (48%, 47%, and 47% respectively), all of which already exist along the trail. Landscaping was prioritized by 47% of participants, while wildlife habitat was lower at 40% and green infrastructure: 39%. Dog waste stations were 34%, drinking water fountains: 33%, bike racks: 32%, and signage: 26%. The main concerns about the project included unsheltered homelessness, maintenance, and safety (38%, 33%, and 31%, respectively).

We are now on our second phase, the visual preference! Vote for your preferred visual options for categories including art and placemaking, gathering spaces, secondary trails, play spaces, landscaping, and more. What do you want the creek and trail to look like? Click here to take the survey!

The visual preference will be used to create two design concepts for the City Creek channel and additional improvements. Feedback from residents, like you, is critical to capture the collective vision for City Creek at Folsom Trail!
