Creekside Stories

Stories of People and Places Along Our Creeks.

The creeks of the Salt Lake Valley have long shaped the people, neighborhoods, and places that grew alongside them. Creekside Stories is a video series by Seven Canyons Trust that shares the stories of people and places connected to these waterways, highlighting the histories, memories, and experiences rooted along their banks. Through these stories, we are exploring the relationship between people, place, and water and bringing greater visibility to the creeks that continue to flow through our communities.

Goals

The Stories

  • Preserve local stories by documenting the memories and experiences of people and places connected to the Salt Lake Valley’s creeks.

  • Reconnect people to waterways by revealing how creeks have influenced neighborhoods, communities, and everyday life.

  • Highlight hidden histories associated with places located along creeks, including waterways that now flow underground.

  • Build a stronger sense of place by connecting present-day landscapes with the people, stories, and histories that shaped them.

  • Inspire creek stewardship by helping people see local waterways as both ecological resources and important parts of our shared community story.
