We received a Merit Award from the Utah Chapter of the American Planning Association. It recognizes the Seven Greenways Vision Plan to revitalize our waterways and connect the Salt Lake Valley through greenways.

We received a Merit Award under the Regional Plan category from the Utah Chapter of the American Planning Association for the Seven Greenways Vision Plan. The award recognizes the comprehensive 100-year vision to revitalize our waterways and connect people through greenways in the Salt Lake Valley.

The award commends the century-long framework and collection of goals, opportunity areas, and strategies to develop greenway corridors along City, Red Butte, Emigration, Parley’s, Mill, Big Cottonwood, and Little Cottonwood Creeks. Moreover, the award acknowledges the extensive regional collaboration with eight stream-side municipalities (Cottonwood Heights, Holladay, Midvale, Millcreek, Murray, Sandy, Salt Lake City, and South Salt Lake) and Salt Lake County, as well as the equitable community engagement–which reached thousands of residents across the Salt Lake Valley. The result is a community-supported vision for the future of our waterways.

We are honored to be recognized by the Utah American Planning Association. All eight municipalities and Salt Lake County have signed the Foreword of the Seven Greenways Vision Plan to express their support. This summer, we hosted five walks along the Big Ideas in the five core elements–Water, Nature, Community, Recreation, and Urban. As we move forward, we plan to continue this walk series to highlight all 21 opportunity areas in the plan. Stay up-to-date at sevengreenwaysvisionplan.org!
